Chicago O'Hare International Airport
Disabled/Special Needs Information
ADA Friendly Services at O'Hare
Getting from one point to another at any airport can be
challenging, especially for travelers with disabilities.
At O'Hare, we recognize these needs and are working to make
passage through our airport as pleasant and convenient as
possible.
Accessible Kiosk for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing
The Accessible Kiosk is equipped with a public access videophone
(PAV) that allows travelers who are Deaf or hard of hearing
to place a call via videophone to request services or communicate
with family, friends or another Deaf person using sign language.
The kiosk also has a multilingual touch screen monitor providing
transportation and tourist information, and an overhead
monitor that features accessibility information about tourist
attractions in the City of Chicago. The public access videophone
is equipped with a keyboard so that hard of hearing travelers
have the option of using an Internet-based text relay service.
The first of nine accessible kiosks is available in Terminal
3 near the entrance to the H-K concourse.
Wheelchair assistance is available from your airline. Please
contact your airline in advance to make special arrangements.
All outside sidewalks have sloping curb cuts for easy wheelchair
access. Additionally, O'Hare's terminals have extra-wide
automatic entry doors on both the upper and lower levels.
Throughout the airport facility, restrooms, elevators, signage,
telephones, restaurants, drinking fountains, and diaper
changing facilities are in full compliance with the Americans
with Disabilities Act. A visual paging system in the International
Terminal allows airlines and airport operators to send visual
messages to the public. The visual paging system is located
adjacent to the flight information monitors.
If you need assistance getting from your terminal to the
gate area, you may wish to contact the following before
your flight. Terminal-1 and parts of Terminal -2 Airserv
